Language Arts- This past week our stories were fairy tales.  We focused on point of view where we compared the perspective that the author has in the story, to their own.  We also practiced summarizing, root words, compound words, and singular and plural nouns.

From this point forward we will be moving on from our Wonders program and working on an author study of Roald Dahl.  One of our third grade standards: Compare and contrast the themes, settings, and plots of stories written by the same author about the same or similar characters.

Writing-We are working on an opinion piece based on the story, "Hey Little Ant". Kids have to give their opinion about whether or not the boy in the story should squish the ant.

Math- Last week we worked on Topic 14. We will not be testing over this topic at this time because of the state tests that are approaching. Over the next week, we will be on Topic 15- attributes of two-dimensional shapes.

Social Studies- We are continuing to learn on Producers and Consumers.

This week we will beginning ELA State testing.  The tests will be on Tuesday and Thursday.

April 18th and 20th will be the math portion of the tests.

Please make sure that your child gets to bed on time, eats a healthy breakfast, and know that the test is important and to try their best.

They may bring mints, (not gum) to have during the test.
