Hello!
This week we eased into our normal routine and completed a lot of work as a group. You may have noticed that grades have started to get entered in the gradebook and some may appear scary at this point. Please keep in mind that many of the items entered are out of very little points so missing a couple points can make it seem like a low grade. As we going through the quarter and more grades are entered, it averages out.
Our home folders finally arrived this week and taped inside them you will notice their passwords for various online resources. Most of what they will need can be found through Clever, but I have included all their passwords just incase Clever is down.
Language Arts- This past week we worked hard learning about character traits, synonyms, and visualizing while reading. We read some entertaining fantasies and learned new vocabulary that were within all of our stories. We played vocabulary games and practiced our vocabulary throughout the week and on Friday we took our first vocabulary quiz. We also took a reading test together this week. Our reading tests in third grade are challenging since they are online so we will be easing into them by practicing them together at the beginning of the year.
Writing- This week we read a story called, Wolf and wrote a short response pertaining to the Wolf’s character traits within the story. When we were finished we recorded our responses in a Flipgrid, which is a mini video.
Math- We began topic 1- Understanding Multiplication and Division. This coming Friday we will take our first math test. It will be online and consist of 20 questions. We will be spending time throughout the week reviewing for the test. If you would like to practice at home I will be sending home the review sheet with them on Thursday and there are math resources they can practice through their Google Classroom found by signing in through Clever.
