Language ArtsLast week's story focused on the essential question, How do people make government work?  We read the stories, "Every Vote Counts", "Vote!", and "A Plan for the People".  The stories were Expository Texts which are non-fiction, informative texts. We focused on the following...
-Strategy: reread for understanding
-Skill:Author's Point of View
-Phonics: Prefixes
-Special Nouns
-Building vocabulary


Math- This week we were working on finishing up Topic 4.  Our test will be on Wednesday this week.  We reviewed on Monday during class since we have a field trip on Tuesday.  

HOMEWORK THIS WEEK- There will be no math homework on Wednesday night and there is no spelling  this week  as a result of no school Friday and Halloween on Thursday.  Pumpkin Book Reports are due THURSDAY.

A few more things...
    Please have your children wear their Halloween costumes to school Thursday. They may choose to bring a change of clothes so they don't have to sit in them all day long.  Our Halloween parade will be in the morning, but the party will not be until the afternoon.

October 29th- Field Trip to the Peter Miller house and museum at 1:00. Permission forms were part of the registration at the beginning of the school year. 
October 31st- Halloween Parade at 9:00 Class party at 1:45-2:45
November 1st- Teacher In-Service Day. NO SCHOOL
November 18th- Library Field Trip 1:00
November 26th- School trip to high school to see Elf the play in afternoon
November 27th ~ 29th- Thanksgiving Break
December 9th- Holiday Shoppe
December 17th- Winter Music Program 
December 19th- Holiday Party
December 23rd- Winter Break begins
January 6th  - Resume from break
