Language Arts- Essential Question this past week- Why do people immigrate to new places?
This week we are reading the stories, "Sailing To American", " The Castle on Hester Street" and "Next Stop, America". This week we worked on similes and singular and plural nouns. We also discussed the theme of the stories and worked on making predictions and inferences while we read.
Math- This week we were working on Topic 4. Our test will be toward the end of the month.
Please practice math facts nightly.
Social Studies- We have begun our unit on history/geography. We will be taking a look at maps and where Avon Lake is. We will also learn about the history of Avon Lake.
Third Grade testing- Ohio testing will be this week

Testing will be Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please make sure that your children get plenty of sleep this week and eat healthy meals. Kids can bring mints to eat during the test.
I will lighten their homework load throughout the week.
Halloween
Our Halloween party will be the 31st in the afternoon. If you have any questions or want to be involved, please contact our head room mom, Mrs. Ambrose.
Please look at your child's planner each night. Also, please be sure to look through your child's folder each Friday when we send home papers from that week.
