Language Arts-  This week's story focused on the essential question, What can traditions teach you about cultures.  We read the stories, "The Dream Catcher", "Yoon and the Jade Bracelet", and "Family Traditions".  The stories were realistic fiction and taught us about the different cultures that people celebrate.  We focused of parts of a story as well as visualizing and context clues.  We also learned about the different types of sentences there are and also practiced working with short vowel sounds.
In writing we continued writing a friendly letter.  Students also took a reading test online.  We did this independently and not for a grade.  This week we will be taking the reading test online for credit.
Math- In math, kids came home Friday with their math test from topic 1.  It is my policy that if your child receives a 'd' or 'f' on a math test, they can correct them and get them signed for extra points. This week we will be finishing up topic 2 and having a test on Thursday.
              Please practice math facts nightly.

Social Studies- We will be continuing to discuss Avon Lake History.

Please look at your child's planner each night.  Also, please be sure to look through your child's binder each Friday when we send home papers from that week.
Hope you had a great weekend.
