Language Arts- We have begun our Wonders reading program.  The program begins with 2 weeks of short stories that emphasize different text features and skills that third graders will see throughout the year.  We have discussed themes, genres, dictionary and thesaurus features and much more.  Next week we will begin our first story.  We will have3 weekly tests that will be skilled based rather than about actual details of the story.  Spelling will also begin next week.  I will be sending home words on Friday's on their homework papers...these papers will be due back on Thursday the following week, the same day as the test. 

Writing- we have begun to journal.  Each Monday we will be journaling about our weekend. We will also be writing through the Wonders program.

Math- We have begun topic 1- Understanding Multiplication and Division.  We have been practicing different strategies to solve multiplication problems.  Our topic will wrap up this week and after a review, we will be testing over topic 1 on Thursday, September 8th.
