Dear Parents,
    We have started the third quarter!  This past week we began reading about Thomas Edison.  This story contains a lot of information so we made this story extend for two weeks.  Our test for this story will be on Friday.  In addition to reading about Thomas Edison we have also been working on the different text features that are within the story, for example timelines.  In math we began topic 8 which is on the properties of subtraction and addition. You'll notice that we did not do every page in our book for this topic, instead we incorporated these skills within other lessons touching upon them since they were reviews from previous years or things we do already.  For example, learning how to check our answers from an addition problem by using subtraction.  Our test for topic 8 will be on this Wednesday.  I will be sending home the review homework tomorrow and it will be due on Wednesday.
For Social Studies we are back in our homerooms and learning about Economics.  We will be in our class for the next 5 weeks before going to Mrs. Austin's class for Science.  Have a great week!
