I hope that everyone had a safe and fun Halloween.  In Language Arts this past week we began to read Fantastic Mr. Fox.  Our goal is to read at least 2 chapters in school each day.  We are focusing on characters traits as well as nonliteral, or figurative, language.  For example metaphors and similes.  We will be reading this story over the next couple weeks and completing packet work at school that coincides with it.  In math we will be finishing up our Topic 4 this week and taking a test on Thursday over it.  Originally I was going to give the test on Wednesday, but with Tuesday being no school and last Thursday's lesson was a bit confusing, I am extending it another day.  The test this time around is an additional page and so I am gong to send the homework practice test home tomorrow night for it to be due on Thursday.
Spelling-  just a reminder to have your children practice their spelling words each night.  As the year progresses our words get more difficult.  Homework in spelling each week is due on Thursday.
Math flashcards- A couple weeks ago I sent home flashcards for the kids to practice at home.  I still see several of them still in folders.  Please have your child cut them out and practice them at home each night.  Learning their multiplication facts will make taking tests over the topics much easier for them.  I will be sending home a multiplication facts log to have the kids record each night the number of minutes they are practicing their facts each night.  This will be a two week long and at the end of the two weeks the students with the most minutes of practice will be rewarded. Please initial these sheets nightly and have them keep them in their folders so I can check daily.
Report cards will be coming home on Wednesday, please sign and return the envelope the very next day.
NEEDED*** wipes, if there is anyone that can send in Chlorax wipes to help keep our classroom germ free, I would appreciate it.  Thanks.
REMINDER*** there is no school on Tuesday.

Have great week!
