It was nice meeting with all of you tonight at conferences. In Language Arts this week we will be reading a story/play out of our class Storyworks magazine, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Our focus for this story will be making inferences. We will be asking many questions about why the characters are doing or acting the way that they are acting. We will have a short quiz over this story on Friday. In grammar we will be focusing on articles and in writing we will be beginning our Halloween stories that will last several weeks. Our spelling test and homework will be on friday this week because of Monday Conferences.
In math this week we will be focusing on The Associative Property when multiplying 3 numbers. Expect their math test to be on Tuesday next week. I will send home Monday night's review homework home on Friday so they can do a little at a time, I do not want it returned to school until Tuesday. It can be used as a study guide Monday night.
This week we will be beginning reading groups in class. Some children already have begun their reading groups if they get pulled out, for those that stay in class, our groups will begin this week. This year I am adding math groups on Friday as a review for that week's concepts. Those also will begin this week.
More volunteer slots have been added if you are interesting in volunteering.
Let's have a great week!
