Language Arts- This week we read some interesting stories with the Essential question, What ideas can we get from nature?  We read stories that were Expository Texts, which is a piece of writing that has a purpose to inform the readers about something.  We read about the many things within nature that scientists have observed and have come up with useful ideas from.  For example, a cane for blind people that mimics the way that a bat finds his way around in nature.  We continued to work on main idea and details, root words, and summarizing the stories. 

Math- We will wrap up Topic 8 in math on Wednesday with a test.  We will be having a couple nights of math homework in preparation. 

Topic 9 focuses on adding and subtracting three digit numbers with and without regrouping. 

Report cards will be electronically sent home this week.

Valentine's Day- we will be celebrating on Monday, February 14th. Information will be sent home this Friday.
