Language Arts
This week's story focused on the essential question, How can people help animals survive? The stories were Expository Texts which are non-fiction, informative texts. We focused on the following...
-Strategy: reread for understanding
-Skill:Author's Point of View compared to our point of view
-Building vocabulary

When reading with your children ask them what the Author's point of view is...(prompt them by asking what they feel the author's opinion is on the topic)

Next week we will be working on poetry.

Math- This week we finished up Topic 4.   Topic 5 is a short topic and we will be working on using a multiplication table to multiply and divide. We are at the point in the year where kids should really be fluently multiplying and dividing. Please have your children practice their facts throughout the week so they begin to know them easily. There is a new resource to help for this in their Google Classroom called 99math. It is located in the Resource Folder.
Another resource for practice is below...

 Please practice math facts nightly.
The link below is for an online practice site for math flashcards.

Social Studies- This week we wrapped up map skills by creating a map of our classrooms. Next week we will be seeing where we are in the world.

Our class is fortunate enough that we have a TEE student from the high school helping us 3 days a week in the afternoon for 6 weeks. Miss Kate is a former Erieview student that is working toward one day becoming a teacher. Kate has been practicing math skills with the kids and helping out.
