Welcome to our class blog!  Throughout the year I will be updating our blog with important information that you and your child may need.  Please sign-up to follow our blog on the left so you get a notice when it has been updated,  I look forward to a wonderful year with your children!  

Language Arts- Next week we will begin our Wonders reading program.  The program begins with  short stories that emphasize different text features and skills that third graders will see throughout the year.  We have discussed themes, genres, dictionary and thesaurus features and much more.  Next week we will begin our first story.  We will have weekly tests that will be skilled based rather than about actual details of the story.  Spelling will also begin next week.  I will be sending home words on Friday's on their homework papers...these papers will be due back on Thursday the following week, the same day as the test.  On this homework will also be their vocabulary words for that week.  The vocabulary words will be part of the Friday Reading test. 

Writing-  Each Monday we will be journaling about our weekend. We will also be writing through the week with our Wonders program.

Math- We will begin topic 1- Understanding Multiplication and Division on Friday.  We will be practicing different strategies to solve multiplication problems.  

This week we will be doing benchmark testing. This will help set our classroom reading groups for this portion of the year. I hope everyone had a good weekend.
