Dear Parents we are nearing the end of the year.  Please take a minute to read through our blog and check out the upcoming dates section.  Thank you to all that ordered Pizza from Marcos on box night.  Our class was the winning class!

Language Arts
This past week we read Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl.  This is the first of two books that we will be reading by him.  You may know him better from being the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  This will be our next book read.  Dahl has a wonderful way of using figurative language that makes his books come to life.  we will be studying this and also doing an author's comparison of his writing.  This week we will be using evidence from Fantastic Mr. Fox to do a trial/debate pinning the fox in the story against the farmers.  Who was right, who was wrong.  Student's will be placed of one side and have to defend one of the two with evidence from the book or from research.  Next week we will be beginning Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Spelling is complete for the year.  Since we are moving on to novels, we have ended our spelling for the year.

Writing- Our last writing assignment will be sent home on Friday and will be due the following Friday, May 11th.

Math- We are beginning topic 14 on time and measurement.  We will work on this topic for the next couple weeks.
