Food Drive going on this week!!!

Language Arts- 
This week's story focused on the essential question, How do people make government work?  We read the stories, "Every Vote Counts", "Vote!", and "A Plan for the People".  The stories were Expository Texts which are non-fiction, informative texts. We focused on the following...
-Strategy: reread for understanding
-Skill:Author's Point of View
-Phonics: Prefixes
-Special Nouns
-Building vocabulary
-Spelling-Words with silent letters.
In writing we are finishing up working with partners to create a slide show on a famous person. 

Math- We finished up topic 4 and will be taking a test on Tuesday.  This time our test will be given online.  As always children will have the opportunity to earn extra points if they score below a C- on the test.  Taking the test online is where our district is heading and will help the kids become more comfortable with the online testing process.  We have been practicing this throughout the year via practice tests and daily with our quick checks.

Science- Kids have been going to Mrs. Austin's room to learn about Matter. Our field trip to the library later this month will be about Matter as well.

Important Dates...

Pizza Night
This Thursday is 3rd grade pizza box night at Marco's.  We will be decorating pizza boxes and when you order from Marco's on Thursday they will place your order in that box.  You can have them place an order sandwich in the box instead of pizza if you're not a pizza person :)  

Field Trip

Coming up...Field trip the Avon Lake Library. November 20th at 9:00.

Please look at your child's planner each night.  Also, please be sure to look through your child's binder each Friday when we send home papers from that week.
