Language Arts- This past week reread stories that we have read throughout the year and compared the two stories.  We then wrote about which was our favorite and provided evidence from the story that told why they chose that story.  Following that, we took a class vote and chose a winner.  In our hallway we have a bulletin board that we set-up to look like brackets and we will determine our all-time favorite story at the end of reading our 16 picks.  We are finding that it is hard to make a choice because of all the great stories that we have read this year.
We also practiced reading passages and answering questions while having to locate evidence within the text.  We also wrote a paper on this together as a class.
This week we will beginning Unit 5.1 and extending it into next week.  Along with the reading lasting the 2 weeks, so will the spelling.  Since we will be having testing this week and next, our spelling test will be next Tuesday, April 4th.

Math-  This week in math we will continue to work on Topic 14.  Scales for this topic were sent home last week.

A Look Ahead

-   This week we will beginning ELA State testing.  The tests will be on Wednesday and Friday.  Next week will be the math portion of the tests and they will also be on Wednesday and Friday.

Please make sure that your children get to bed on time, eat a healthy breakfast, and no that the test is important and to try their best.  I will be light on homework through the next 2 weeks.
-Tuesday is twins days because they won a classroom reward.  Kids can dress similar to others in class for fun if they wish to.  Please do not go out and buy them matching outfits, this is not meant to cost any money.

-There will be a few schedule changes throughout the week because of testing.  Contact me if you have any questions.

Have a good week.
