Language Arts- This past week we read "Nail Soup", "The Real Story of Stone Soup", and "Healthful Food Choices".  Our essential question was, What Choices are good for us?  We concentrated on vocabulary, point of view, and asking and answering questions. This week we will be continuing with these same skills and adding contractions with not, plurals, and prefixes into the mix.  On Genre will be realistic fiction, where the stories we read are fiction, but could have really taken place. Our stories are called, "The Impossible Pet Show", "The Talented Clementine" and Clementine and the Family Meeting". 

Math- This week and the past week we have been working on Fractions within topic 12.  We are currently focusing on placing fractions on a number line and will be moving into plotting them on a number line.  We will be finishing up this topic at the end of next week and taking a test over topic 12 on Friday, February 24th.

Social Studies-Currently students are working within groups to come up with a product and present it to the class.  They will have to price the product and tell why it is needed.  After this we will be working on budgets.   

A Look Ahead

-We have a lot of things coming up.  Please look for information coming home for One District, one book.  This is a fun district wide program that we will be doing.

-Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  Please make sure your children has a decorated box or bag for their valentines.  They also may bring in valentines to share.  Information was sent home on in their Wednesday folders.  Tomorrow they also may dress in fancy clothes.

-Thursday is Jump Rope for heart.  Forms are due by that day and will not be excepted after Thursday.

-Box Tops are due by Wednesday.  This is the last collection of the year, please have your children bring in all you have at home.

-Field Trip forms need to be brought back ASAP, along with the money.$10.11.  If you are a parent volunteer, please send in your money as well.  Thank you.
Field Trip is Thursday, February 23rd.  Kids will need a lunch packed in a disposable bag with their name on it.  No containers may be sent in.

-COSI will be Wednesday, February 22nd.  They will have fun learning about science going around to different stations.

-March 1st we will be going across the street to the library for a science field trip.

-There is no school This coming Monday, February 20th in observation of President's Day.
