Language Arts- This week's stories focused on the essential question, How do people from different cultures contribute to a community?  We cited relevant evidence from text, worked on sequencing and asked and answered questions.  Kids had to demonstrate an understanding of compound words.  Our two main stories were Narrative non-fiction and we discussed the characteristics which make a story this genre.

Math- This week in math we finished topic two with a test and began topic 3 which teaches the children multiplication facts 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 and teaches them the distributive property and associate property of multiplication.  The distributive property is a little tricky for many kids so we spent 2 days on it las week.

Social Studies- This week we discussed the consequences for breaking laws and created a class book after reading a story on what if everyone broke the law.

Tomorrow is picture day.  Please remember to send in appropriate forms with your child.  Have a great week.
