We had a busy week last week. Monday we learned about Christopher Columbus and made hats that depicted the three ships he sailed to help discover what we call America. The kids watched a four minute video clip on him that helped to show what the journey for him was like. Tuesday we celebrated Fire Safety week by being visited from a fireman and learning about the important things to do if there is a fire in your home. In our classroom we read a book about fire safety and made fire safety poster, which are hanging in our hallway.
In Fundations we reviewed our past letters and learned the letters 'd' and 's'. This coming week will be more difficult for many because they are the vowels 'e' and 'u'. Please be sure to practice their letter sounds with them at home.
We focused on the sight word 'am' this past week reading our short readers that contained the words. We practiced writing in our journals using this word. Flashcards have been added to their binders, please be sure to flash the children throughout the week.
In math we will be beginning the teen numbers as we finish our numbers 0-9. We practiced measuring this week and continued with math skills that we practice each week, like patterns.
I hope that everyone had a safe day off on Friday.
