Weekly News 9/9/11

This week flew by! We began to learn our letters by beginning with the letters, t, b, and f. As we introduce each letter we associate them with the letter name, picture clue, and letter sound. For example t is t, top, /t/. Next week your children will be getting their first Fundations homework for these three letters. Along with the homework will be a guide to help you see the proper way that we teach them to write the letters. Please read the directions with your children and make sure they have a pencil to use.
In math this week we worked on learning our numbers and also began to compare the lengths of different pieces of paper with others around the room.
We are continuing to work on our color words and also introduced the words I and see. As we get into the school year more we will be increasing the amount of work and more flashcards will be coming home, please make sure to practice them with your child.
Next week....
* If you want to order from Scholastics, I will be placing the order on Friday.
* Thursday, in celebrating Constitution Day, the children are encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue.
* Friday is picture day!
* Monday and Wednesday I have teacher meetings so there will be a substitute on those days.

Have a great weekend!
