Dear Parents,
This past week we continued to work on addition and also on identifying penny, nickels, and dimes, and what each of them are worth. We will continue that this week as well. We will also be learning a little bit about measurement and what type of tools to use when measuring specific items.
In fundations we will continue to tap and write words and also work more on writing sentences through our journals. "On" is our latest sight word and "in" and "look" will be the next ones we are working on.
We will be completing several activities for St. Patrick's day to help celebrate the day. We are hoping to catch a Leprechaun and we will write about what we will do if we do catch one.
We also have begun to really emphasize the parts of a story. I encourage you to read with your children asking them what happened in the beginning, middle, and the end of the story. Also, ask them about the main characters and have them give you an overall explanation of has happened in the story.
The Kindergarten Rodeo is coming up. During the Rodeo we will be having several stations for the children to participate in. It is a fun filled day with learning activities with a rodeo theme. I have sent a separate email to you today and will continue to keep you updated as the event gets closer. I also will be asking for you to bring in a specific item like we did for the gingerbread houses. This will be coming home in the weeks to come.
A few other important dates for the remainder of the year...
